Bayern Munich beat Paris Saint- Germain on Sunday to clinch their sixth Champions League trophy. A goal in the 59th minute by a cool headed Coman was enough to seal victory for the Bavarians.

It was a game full of end to end action with millions of fans watching all around the world in a game which is the first of its kind from being played so late in the year instead of the usual time of May and with no fans for obvious reasons of the Covid -19 pandemic.

But all these couldn’t take away the glitz and glamour of the day from the pre-match festivities to the tension and passion with which both teams played. Bayern, having begun the season poorly and turning it around with the sacking of their manager Nico Kovac in the middle of the season and appointing former assistant coach of German national team Hans-Dieter Flick who just motivated the team into a Treble winning streak which has oddly only happened twice in Bayern’s history.

PSG with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr. chose to allow Bayern dominate the game and hit them on the counter. A game that many expected to have so many goals was rather ended with a lone goal from a defensive mispositioning by the defenders for the first time in the game and Bayern, who before the game were on an unprecedented  100% winning streak in the champions league punished them dearly to lift up the trophy for a sixth time making them joint-third in overall trophy standings only behind Real Madrid and AC Milan who have won it 13 and 7 times respectively.

At 55, Flick became the fourth oldest coach lay his hands on the coveted trophy and joins the list of Jupp Heynckes and Alex Fergurson in that category while doing it in a grand style by winning 11 matches in a row on their way to lifting the trophy.
