Mr. Samuel Sakyi Duodu the Ashanti Regional Assistant Commissioner for GRA has said that close to 33,000.00 have a tax identification numbers (TIN) have been so far issued i the Ashanti region.
According to Mr. Doudu, before government announced the stimulus package (COVID-19 LOAN) the number of persons in Ashanti with a TIN was not encouraging. He added that, the TIN number is very necessary to every Ghanaian to register.
Mr. Samuel Sakyi Duodu believed that the massive registration follows the announcement of the stimulus package. He encouraged all citizens of Ghana all eligible persons to register for the TIN number as it has become a necessity without which access to some essential services cannot be granted without the unique tax number (TIN)
The registration for the Tax identification Number (TIN) is free of charge and every Ghanaian should take advantage of that to register.
People should note that one cannot open a bank account, file a case in court, acquire a passport or obtain a driving license without the TIN number.
Without it, a person cannot also register a vehicle, clear goods in commercial quantities from ports or register any title to land or any document affecting land in Ghana.
The TIN is an eleven digit identification of taxpayers to ensure tax compliance.
Mr. Samuel Sakyi Duodu speaking with media in Kumasi has urge the general public to have TIN number.
