Ghana Can Turn Waste into Wealth – 2024 TV3 GMB Winner Urges as 100 Young People Receive Green Skills Training
Miss Nihad Titiaka Oases, winner of the 2024 TV3 Ghana’s Most Beautiful pageant, is calling for the country to harness modern technology and practical skills to convert waste materials into valuable resources.
Through her foundation, EcoGreen Oases Legacy, and in collaboration with partners, she is touring various parts of Ghana to equip young people with hands-on training on transforming locally generated waste especially plastics into practical household products that can improve daily living.
She explained that the initiative aims to build community resilience against climate change by promoting recycling, tree planting, effective waste management, and the adoption of clean cooking technologies.
In an interview with the press at the conclusion of a free three-day “Green Skills Training” workshop that benefited around 100 youths in Techiman, the capital of Bono East Region, Miss Titiaka Founder and Executive Director of EcoGreen Oases Legacy stated that if the project is sustained, it will not only help maintain cleaner communities but also generate employment and economic opportunities for Ghana’s large population of job-seeking youth.
Representing the traditional authorities, Nana Kwame Brafi, Chief of New Onyinase (who stood in for the Omanhene of Techiman), and Nana Ati Adjei, Chief of Matɛso and a known sanitation advocate, pledged the full support of the Nananom in tackling waste management issues in the area.
Some of the training participants also shared their positive experiences and takeaways with the media at the event.
