Mr. Kumi Asare, the Youth Organizer for the Dormaa Central Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has appealed to all Ghanaians to exercise patience as the government endeavors to address the persistent power crisis affecting the nation.
In an interview with Kwaku Mensah Abrampa on the GIFTS FM morning show, Mr. Kumi Asare characterized the current power fluctuations as “Dum Siesie” rather than “Dumsor,” highlighting the government’s efforts to resolve the electricity challenges faced by Ghanaians. He asserted that the NDC is the only political party capable of resolving Ghana’s electricity crisis, citing their initiatives in additional power generation and electricity extension to rural communities as evidence of their competence in addressing ongoing power issues.
Mr. Asare explained that the electricity extension undertaken by the NDC adds more load to the transformers, necessitating maintenance and repair of damaged transformers, an ongoing process that has led to current power fluctuations. He emphasized that, upon completion of the maintenance work, Ghana’s energy sector challenges will be effectively resolved.
Hon. Alan Afi Isaac, the Presiding Member of the Dormaa East District Assembly, has stated that following the fire incident at Akosombo, the Ministry of Energy has taken decisive action, including the suspension of the Director of GRIDco, pending investigations. He noted that these measures have yielded positive outcomes, as evidenced by an uninterrupted power supply for almost five days.
He further described the ongoing power outages, commonly referred to as “dumsor,” as a temporary issue that the government is committed to resolving in order to provide improved electricity supply to Ghanaians.
He also mentioned that the issue of “dumsor” is nearing resolution, with the minority now shifting their focus to the losses incurred by the Bank of Ghana. He indicated that Ghanaians are benefiting from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) resetting agenda, and he believes that the NDC’s chances of winning the 2028 general elections remain strong. He asserted that, due to the commendable governance of President John Dramani Mahama, whichever candidate the NDC presents is likely to succeed in the general elections.
