The Dormaa Central Municipal Chief Executive has pledged a motorbike, additional furniture and a six-unit classroom block to support a newly constructed kindergarten facility at Asensu Dwen.
Hon. Dominic Adoma Ameyaw made the commitments during the commissioning of the kindergarten block built by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana’s Dormaa North District.
He said the completed building would enable the posting of teachers to the community. A motorbike, to be provided jointly by the MCE and the area’s Member of Parliament, would help the assigned teacher travel to and from the school, Ameyaw said.
The MCE also promised to supply extra furniture as needed and said the municipal assembly was ready to complement the church’s work by constructing a six-unit classroom block to serve pupils from lower to upper primary.
He appealed to traditional leaders and residents of Asensu Dwen to support the assembly through prayer as it works to improve education in the community.
Circuit Supervisor Mahama Kwadwo Dramani, representing Dormaa Central Director of Education Philip Adom Danso, thanked the Presbyterian Church for the kindergarten block.
He said the Education Directorate would post teachers once the school begins operating and noted that the promised motorbike would help motivate staff. Dramani urged parents and traditional authorities to support teachers and ensure children attend school regularly. The directorate is prepared to provide textbooks and other teaching materials, he added.
Bono Regional Manager of Presbyterian Schools John Ashrifie said his office would monitor the MCE’s pledges, particularly the motorbike, to ensure the teacher receives it.
He welcomed the Education Directorate’s commitment to supply exercise books and textbooks and appealed to parents and traditional leaders to maintain the facilities promptly, saying proper upkeep would help sustain the project and support future expansion by the church or government.
