The Western North Regional Minister, Honourable Wilbert Pretty Brentum, has stressed the urgent need for citizens particularly those in the Western North Region to unite in planting more trees, highlighting the essential role trees play in sustaining human life and the environment.
Speaking at the launch of the “Tree for Life Project” in Sefwi Wiawso, the regional capital, the Minister underscored the critical importance of trees. He warned that failing to plant more could lead to severe damage to the ecosystem.
Honourable Brentum spoke at length about how widespread deforestation is worsening climate change, cautioning that without immediate action, future generations will bear the brunt of the consequences.
Meanwhile, the Western North Regional Director of the Forestry Commission, Ntiamoah Bennett, encouraged everyone especially school children to adopt tree planting as a regular habit. He urged them to visit district forestry offices to collect free seedlings for planting.
In his remarks, Director Bennett also detailed the numerous benefits that come with making tree planting a consistent practice.
