Mmeredane District of Church of Pentecost Donates Food and Toiletries to Sunyani Central Prisons
Inmates at the Sunyani Central Prisons in Ghana’s Bono Region have benefited from a donation of assorted food items and toiletries from the Mmeredane District of the Church of Pentecost.
The presentation took place on Saturday as part of activities to mark the church’s PEMEM Week celebration, according to District Pastor Benjamin Nobi.
He said the items, which included bags of rice, cooking oil, soap, bread, gari, beans, kenkey, and other toiletries, were valued at approximately GH¢15,000. The donation is intended to help support the prisoners at the facility.
Pastor Nobi explained that the gesture fulfills Christ’s teaching to show care and compassion to prisoners. While receiving the donations, the Sunyani Central Prisons Chaplain, Rev. Gideon Nda Buri, expressed gratitude to the church for the thoughtful support.
He assured them that the items would be used for their intended purpose and also thanked the district for backing the Prisons church project.
Emmanuel Osei Kofi, the Mmeredane District Leader of the Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM), noted that PEMEM Week is observed annually by the Church of Pentecost to evangelize, offer material assistance, and promote the welfare of prisoners. He added that the men’s ministry also focuses on addressing the welfare needs of its own members.
