Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare to receive $38,000 car after winning Black Stars Best Domestic Player award

Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare will receive a car valued at $38,000 after being named the Black Stars’ Best Domestic Player, Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku announced Thursday.

Okraku made the announcement during the GFA’s 32nd Ordinary Congress at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, with Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams in attendance. The award recognizes Asare’s contributions to the national team.

The 33-year-old was the only Ghana Premier League player selected for Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad. He appeared in three of the Black Stars’ four matches as the team reached the knockout stage. Asare kept a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw against eventual bronze medalists England.

Despite reported interest from European clubs, Asare is expected to remain Hearts of Oak’s first-choice goalkeeper for the 2026-27 Ghana Premier League season.
